LOCALE

The station stands in its own grounds near the village of Acle in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Acle has a 12th-century round towered church which has a thatched roof! Nearby are windpumps which used to drain the Broads.

If you enjoy walking, Damgate woods is adjacent to the station.

A short distance away is Halvergate marshes, where many species of migratory birds can be spotted. Strumpshaw fen (RSPB) is also closeby (near Brundall).

Two miles from the village is the River Bure where day boats and cruisers are available for hire and of course all these rivers and broads mean excellent fishing.

Great Yarmouth is the third largest seaside resort in the country with all the usual family attractions for children of all ages!

The 'fine city' of Norwich with its excellent shops, cinemas, theatres, cathedrals and historic places of interest is well worth a visit. The largest shopping mall in Europe opened in Norwich in 2006.
